MacBook Neo vs MacBook Air M5: Real-world apps comparison including 4K video export
Here is what to expect from MacBook Neo compared to MacBook Air M5 with a slew of applications running on both machines, we take a look at the speed of the cheapest MacBook from Apple, the Neo to what was previously the entry level MacBook Air now bumped up to a mid-ranger.
@Thetechchap on YouTube shared a short yet informative video answering the big question of how does the MacBook Neo compared to MacBook Air M5.
He has both laptops, MacBook Neo and MacBook Air M5 playing a video on YouTube in Chrome, Canva presentation running, Lightroom open exporting photos. Then he jumps over to Capcut, to edit a 4K video captured on his iPhone. Playback is smooth on both. Exporting takes much longer on the MacBook Neo as expected both on 1080p. He mentioned that he tried to edit 4K video on Premier Pro on the MacBook Neo but it won’t have it. He did all these while all the background tasks are still running. He also flipped back to Lightroom and exported full size JPEGs and PNGs which again took longer on MacBook Neo but not impossibly long.
The video has since been updated to make it longer. You can stop watching after 1 min 50 sec mark but feel free to check out the rest of the video.
So if you want a close to real world application comparison between the two MacBooks without the confusing benchmark numbers, spend 2 minutes watching.
