it would be even better if you could actually purchase one of the printers in the US! I checked and it seems they are only available for sale in India or the Phillipines. Guess Eason and Canon are ready to let go of the income from over priced plastic ink cartridges!!!

“S” made a good point. The canon models can only be bought in Asia.

That is very poor. Why are they marketing here if not available?

    Hi
In Sam’s of Puerto Rico there are printers with ink tanks, no cartridges (Epson and Brother), they carry:

Epson Expression ET-2650 EcoTank All-in-One Printer
Epson Expression ET-3700 EcoTank All-in-One Printer
Epson WorkForce ET-3750 EcoTank All-in-One Printer
Epson WorkForce 4750SE EcoTank All-in-One Printer

    and

Epson WorkForce ET-16500 EcoTank All-in-One Printer

    with amazing savings.

We do not print frequently enough with our cartridge printer, they dry up before they are even 50% used. Do you know if that is still a possibility with the tank printers? Need to replace an HP OfficeJet and are looking at the tank printers.

      Hi Cheryl,

Unfortunately, InkJet printers will eventually dry up if not used consistently. If it is low volume, and occasional use, you may be better off with a small laser printer. No ink to dry up there but it won’t be able to produce high gloss finish on photo paper.

Had the Epson ET4550. Junk and did’t last 2.5 years. Way too much money for a piece of garbage. The more regularly we printed the worse it got. No amount of print head cleaning would work, and we were printing 30 to 50 pages a week.

Same here. Done with Epson. Bought one of their high class R4640. Started streaking in less than a year, then eventually got Epson’s 0x97 message — can no longer print. Ripoff printer. I’d call it complete garbage but I don’t want to insult garbage.

Are any manufacturers planning a refillable inkjet with more than three colours+blk? I printed the same photo with the new pixma 3200 and my old hp officejet. the hp with six cartridges produced richer colours.

I disagree on the Epson printers. I have gone through 4 of them in less than one year. What you don’t know is their paperfeed is extremely weak and for a purpose . You can only use Epson photo paper because their paper is lighter weight-any of the other photo papers are heavier and in a short time break or bend the paper feed so your printer no longer works. Also their ink pad if not a changeable one, will take the machine out in a short period of time. Photos are very nice but not worth the hassle of the paper feed and ink pad defects.
I finally had enough of Epson-told them so and simply pitched their printer in the garbage-not worth replacing -the same problems will show in a couple months. So I would not recommend Epson to anyone-ever . At least not until the company upgrade those two faulty areas.

The Brother does not have refillable tanks or cartridges, and shouldn’t be on the list.

Thank you SB, you are right, the Brother doesn’t come with a refillable ink cartridge. However, the XL bundle, which is what this is comes with 12 ink cartridges, enough ink to last up to 2 years. Remember to choose the value bundle.

Need your suggestion for we are confused which printer to use at home. We seldom print but prefer print, copy, scan, wireless…HP Ink tank 415 or Canon pixma E3010?

      Hi GES,

Both HP Ink Tank Wireless 415 and Canon Pixma G3010 are high volume printers for home use with up to 7000 page yields. Performance wise, both printers are also on par, around 8 pages per minute (ppm) for black and 5 ppm for colour printing. In terms of size, the Pixma G3010 does take up less space on the desk but this isn’t necessarily an issue. The question then would be how easy is it to get the refill ink bottles and how much do they cost.

Yes the Epson-4760 is an excellent printer, but! the ADF may be unreliable. We returned two 4760’s for ADF failures. This is our personal experience and others may not have an issue.
