Leeds City College decided to go with Moodle as their VLE from September 2010. The decision was made following the merger of Leeds College of Technology, Leeds Thomas Danby and Park Lane College Leeds and Keighley.
Pulling together a huge number of courses from different VLEs (2 previous moodle installations and 1 previous blackboard installation) from the merging schools, the new VLE supports a large population of students, approximately 30,000 and teaching staff, approximately 2,000.
Lewis Carr, the VLE Manager together with his team at Leeds College have done a great job with the implementation of the VLE on such as grand scale. He keeps a blog and journal of his work here. The new VLE went live on September 2010 as scheduled and the rest, as they say, is history.
One last note, ColourMyLearning loves the design of the overlapping waves on the header.
